About this Event

Intersections: Discussions at the nexus of Communication, Commerce, and Culture is a speaker series focused on interdisciplinary topics affecting our world. Our next event will be a discussion on April 18th at 7PM focused on the intersection of Design and Storytelling. UBalt alumna Ellen Lupton ('08) will discuss her work in the field of design research. After a short presentation, we will have question and answer period with attendees.

Ellen Lupton (UBalt DCD ’08) is a writer, curator, educator, and designer. Lupton is the Betty Cooke and William O. Steinmetz Design Chair at MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art) in Baltimore, where she has authored numerous books on design processes and is curator emerita at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York City. Her book Design Is Storytelling was published by Cooper Hewitt in 2017. She received the AIGA Gold Medal for Lifetime Achievement in 2007. She was named a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences in 2019.
