Bridging the worlds of classic & contemporary soul, the double sider pairs A-side Promise To Keep, an irrepressible upbeat groover that echoes mid-to-late-sixties vocal groups, with cold downtempo deep soul tearjerker Change Of Heart on the flip side.
Backed by a heavy gang of fellow travellers including members of Surprise Chef, Karate Boogaloo and Temporary Blessings, Ella Thompson puts down a sound that is turning heads, having honed her live set supporting greats such as Thee Sacred Souls, Lee Fields and Jalen Ngonda. Ella’s previous most recent LP A Ripple On The Wing solidified her as a local favourite, earning PBS and 3RRR Album of the Week honours.
