We will meet at the Newport Walmart off I-40 exit 435 at 1:30 p.m. Jeeps hit the road at 2:00 p.m. Be sure to bring lunch or snacks, blankets, chairs and cameras!! We will be taking the back side into Cataloochee on a gravel trail. From there we will be able to view the elk, deer, turkey, and maybe even some bears! After visiting the valley we will head back out the trail and cross the mountain onto Cove Creek Road which will bring us up to I-40 at NC exit 20. From there we will take I-40 west back into Tennessee. (There is a place to get gas at the end of Cove Creek Road.) The best elk viewing time is in the late afternoon. *Stock friendly ride.
*Ride takes a couple hours to complete
*We will have club merchandise on hand
*Due to new policy put in place by the National Park Service you are going to need a parking pass. See link below on how to get one
