Em antevisão à conferência de Philippe Descola, é apresentado o filme Composer les mondes, escrito, rodado e realizado por Eliza Levy sobre o pensamento deste importante antropólogo. A partir de onde podemos repensar o nosso mundo para transformá-lo? Philippe Descola dedicou a sua vida como antropólogo a estudar como os humanos compõem os seus mundos. Num percurso que se iniciou pela Amazónia, voltou o seu campo de investigação para a Europa para entender como nós, os modernos, conseguimos tornar a Terra cada vez menos habitável. Neste filme, Descola encarna as suas ideias, em diálogo com os não-humanos à nossa volta, no centro de uma experiência social única no mundo: a comunidade de Notre-Dame-des-Landes, em França. Ali, sobre e com a terra salva do cimento, no lugar para onde estava prevista a construção de um aeroporto faraónico, uma nova composição do mundo se desenrola.No final do visionamento, Rita Natálio, artista e responsável pela curadoria do projeto Terra Batida, estará em conversa connosco, a partir de questões levantadas pelo filme.

Warming up to Philippe Descola’s conference, Culturgest shows Composer les Mondes (‘composing the worlds’) a film written, shot and directed by Eliza Levy. Her subject is Descola himself, and the thinking that made him a noteworthy anthropologist.
Which should be our starting point to rethink the world with an aim of changing it? Descola devoted his life in anthropology to the study of how human beings form their worlds. He began his investigation in the Amazon region, and then he focused his attention on Europe, seeking to understand how us from the modern world managed to turn the Earth increasingly less habitable.
In Composer les Mondes, Descola embodies his ideas as he engages with the surrounding non-human population at the heart of the French commune of Notre-Dame-des-Landes, a social experiment unlike any other in the world. Once the planned site for a pharaonic airport, then saved from the concrete, on that ground, and with the ground itself, a new configuration of the world is now unfolding.
Following the projection, Rita Natálio, performance artist and coordinator of the Terra Batida initiative, will join us to discuss themes raised by the film.
