Elephant Song is a play about a government clerk in Mumbai, who after a major tragedy, begins to question the biases, beliefs, and ignorance of the world around him. Using influences from the minimalism of Grotovsky’s Poor Theatre to portray the maximalist megalopolis that is Mumbai, the piece relies heavily on sound. Sounds of traditional Indian instruments, inspired by the poems of Kabir, permeate the atmosphere.
