Elena La Fulana is a Latin Grammy-nominated instrumentalist and singer-songwriter based in Washington, DC. Originally from Managua, Nicaragua, Elena identifies as both American and Nicaraguan and her music, which ranges from twangy, heartbreak-themed folk Americana, to soothing, introspective, violin-infused Latin cumbia, reflects this dual identity. From 2019-2023, she toured with the Latin-Grammy winning all-female mariachi group, Flor de Toloache, with whom she performed at the Kennedy Center Honors, The White House, and The Latin Grammys and with artist such as John Legend, Los Lobos, Mon Laferte, Lila Downs, and Miguel. Her performance with Flor de Toloache earned her a Latin Grammy nomination in 2022.
