Electronic Warfare: A Two-Day Lecture on Contested-Spectrum Operations
About this Event
Electronic Warfare is central to modern military operations, where control of the electromagnetic spectrum can determine detection, survivability, command-and-control, and mission success. This two-day short-course provides a high-level but operationally relevant overview of key EW disciplines, emerging threats, and mission applications across air, land, sea, space, and cyber-enabled battlespaces.
The course is on the 26-27 November 2026 and attendees can attend one or both days. The agenda includes:
Day 1
- Electronic Attack — Denying, degrading, deceiving, and disrupting adversary sensors, communications, and command-and-control links across the battlespace.
- Electronic Protection — Hardening friendly systems against jamming, spoofing, interference, exploitation, and contested-spectrum operations.
- Electronic Support — Detecting, identifying, geolocating, and characterizing emitters to build real-time situational awareness and enable kinetic and non-kinetic effects.
- ELINT — Turning adversary radar and RF signatures into actionable intelligence for threat libraries, mission planning, and survivability.
Day 2
- Stealth and Low Observability — Understanding how shaping, materials, emissions control, and tactics reduce detection, tracking, and engagement risk.
- High-Power Microwave and Nuclear EMP — Exploring directed-energy and electromagnetic-pulse effects on electronics, infrastructure, platforms, and mission resilience.
- Space, Communications, and GNSS EW — Contesting SATCOM, datalinks, PNT, and space-enabled networks through jamming, spoofing, meaconing, navigation warfare, and multi-domain spectrum effects.
- Counter-UAS EW — Detecting, tracking, identifying, and defeating drone threats through RF sensing, jamming, spoofing, and layered defense.
Progress in Radar Research (PIRR) 2026
The EW short-course is aligned with the Progress in Radar Research 2026 workshop and all attendees are invited to attend this free 2-day event on the 24-25 November.
