SPWLA is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to advancing the science of petrophysics and formation evaluation through well logging and other techniques applicable to exploitation of gas, oil and other minerals. Founded in 1959, the organization serves as a voice of shared interests for scientists in the petroleum and mineral industries, strengthens petrophysical education and increases awareness of roles petrophysics play in the oil and gas industry as well as the scientific community.
Nested under SPWLA and based in Houston, the Electromagnetic Special Interest Group (EM-SIG) is an active forum for EM specialists and people interested in EM related topics. EM-SIG organizes meetings twice a year, featuring cutting-edge technical presentations and discussions on resistivity logging topics.
