About this Task Force:
The #ElectrifyZerega Task Force (#EZTF) aims to coordinate, convene and document community engagements to expedite Medium Duty/Heavy Duty (MD/HD) fleet electrification in the Zerega Avenue Industrial Business Zone (Z-IBZ). The goal is to stimulate public/private investment, create workforce development opportunities, and alleviate acute community health burdens.#EZTF is a multi-member volunteer team inspired by the AEG and Northeast Clean Energy Council (NECEC) Clean Transportation Summit held in Brooklyn on November 16, 2023 where 128 public and private leaders were challenged to align on a critical obstacle preventing the electrification of MD/HD fleets within cities to achieve climate, health and equity commitments. The Zerega Avenue Industrial Business Zone (Z-IBC) in the Bronx, New York, specifically in Castle Hill, ranks in the 87th national percentile for Particulate Matter, 90th for cancer risks, and 91st for hazardous waste proximity, with over 38% of residents classified as low income.
