ELECTRICAL SPOTTERS COURSE

COURSE CONTENT SUMMARY
This course will enable participants to clearly understand the role of the Spotter as the safety observer to warn mobile plant & crane operators in the proximity of powerlines & underground assets, inclusive of communications, water, sewerage & power.
This course is recognised by Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) & the Victorian WorkSafe Authority as meeting the requirement under Victorian Regulations for Plant Operations near overhead powerlines & underground assets.
Course content includes:
• Role of the Spotter
• Victorian “NO GO” Zones
• Safety Assessment process
• Signalling procedures
• Types of Powerlines
• Permit application process
• Height assessment
• Accident procedures
WHAT DO I DO ON THE DAY?
• Training is a combination of theory and practical. Approx 6 hours classroom and 2 hours practical
WHAT DO I NEED?
Students must bring copies of their current CPR
(within 12 months) & current First Aid (within 3
years).
Students must also bring their operators tickets or
licence for items of plant they wish to spot for.
Valid Photo ID must be presented.
WHAT DO I GET ON COMPLETION OF THE COURSE?
On successful completion of this course, students will be issued with a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment for 22325VIC Course in Workplace Spotting for Service Assets.
Student will be sent an Energy Safe Victoria Spotters Card stating the items of plant they are permit- ted to spot for. This registration will be valid for 3 years, a refresher course will then be required.
The Unique Student Identifier (USI) must be supplied and verified prior to issuance.
