June is Elder Abuse Awareness Month. Social connection and access to supportive resources play a vital role in reducing vulnerability to abuse.
This event is focused on raising awareness and sharing valuable information, resources, and supports available to older adults and those who care for them.
The fair will be in the Bascom/Tykeson Rooms on the first floor.
We are proud to partner with the following agencies who will be tabling at this event:
Lane County Victim Services
AARP
Bristol Hospice
Cascade Hospice
Signature Hospice, and more!
Sponsored by LCOG Senior & Disability Services' Adult Protective Services (APS). APS investigates allegations of abuse to people 65 years or older and people with physical disabilities 18 or older in Lane County. This includes but is not limited to physical abuse, financial exploitation, verbal and emotional abuse, and neglect. What is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day?
World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) was launched on June 15, 2006 by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse and the World Health Organization at the United Nations. Recognized annually on June 15th, WEADD serves as a call-to-action for individuals, organizations, and communities to educate each other on and how to identify, address, and prevent abuse.
