This educational session addresses the critical and serious issues surrounding elder abuse and ageism. Participants will gain insight into the health outcomes associated with elder abuse and learn about the available resources to support affected individuals.
A speaker from the Office of the Public Guardian will provide an overview of the process following complaints related to violations of personal directives. The session will also include a Seniors Protection Partnership Mock Case to illustrate how the team addresses high risk elder abuse files.
Additionally, a Crown Prosecutor will discuss the role of the court system in addressing elder abuse cases.
