Cette année marque la 10e édition de Minuit au Parc Pour souligner l’occasion, notre équipe a puisé dans ses archives pour bâtir une programmation qui retrace l’historique des films cultes et des grands succès de la série au Parc.
On poursuit notre cycle ORIGINES avec EL TOPO de Alejandro Jodorowsky.
‘’El Topo devint un des piliers des séances Midnight Movies, adoubé par John Lennon lui-même, lui assurant un succès culte et une audience internationale qui fit de Jodorwsky, ce chilien aux origines russes, un des auteurs à suivre durant les années 70. Adoptant la structure du western initiatique, où il fait passer ses éternelles références bibliques et son questionnement sur la nature humaine, El Topo demeure une allégorie religieuse aux accents bunuéliens dont la force et l’outrance de certaines images arrivent encore à surprendre le spectateur moderne, même le plus blasé.’’ (ÉCRAN LARGE)

This year marks the 10th edition of Midnight at the Parc. To celebrate, our team dug into the archives to create a program that traces the history of cult films and major hits from the series at the Parc.
We continue our ORIGINS cycle with EL TOPO by Alejandro Jodorowsky.
‘’The ceaseless shocking images on the screen are what made “El ‘Topo” an underground midnight hit in one New York theater for months in 1970. Not the story, not the performances, not the stars (Jodorowsky himself plays El Topo and the child is his own son). The images. John Lennon and Yoko Ono saw it, loved it, and convinced Beatles manager Allen Klein to buy and release it. The film went on to play all over the world and engender countless interpretations. Jodorowsky encourages such speculation by titling sections of the film after books of the Bible (“Psalms”), and making El Topo perhaps a Christ figure.” (ROGER EBERT)
