About this Event
La Fortaleza Community Development Corporation is a business/economic development project conceived and developed collaboratively with El Barrio/East Harlem based arts/cultural institutions & organizations, small businesses, community stakeholders and neighborhood investors.
La Fortaleza brands, protects and defends El Barrio/Spanish Harlem against persistent negative portrayals and gentrification by using Latin@ art and cultural assets to economically revitalizing the community. It recognizes the historical role of the Boricua (Puerto Rican) community as founders of El Barrio/ Spanish Harlem and acknowledges the influence and contribution of working class immigrants that are the impetus for change, growth, and development by introducing new languages, cultures, artistic expressions, and small businesses.
El Festival is an annual bilingual Latin@ Heritage Month Literary event featuring readings, workshops, and performances. Admission is free to school children and adults.
El Festival will occur on Saturday October 11th, 9 am to 4:00 pm.
El Festival celebrates the bilingual heritage of Latin@ writers of all genres. The full richness of the Latin@ voice will be on display, from ground-breaking works from young authors to commemorations of our artistic roots. Now more than ever, we need to tap into the resiliency and resistance that the arts provide.
El Festival es un evento anual bilingüe celebrando la Herencia Hispana por medio de presentaciones literarias, talleres y actuaciones. La entrada de escolares y adultos es gratis. El Festival tendrá lugar en el dia sabado el 11 de Octubre 2025. Desde las 9 de la mañana a 4:00 de la tarde.
El Festival celebra la herencia bilingüe de los escritores latinos de todos los géneros. La plena riqueza de la voz Latin@ estará presente, desde las obras innovadoras de escritores jóvenes hasta memoriales de nuestras raices artísticas. Ahora, más que nunca, necesitamos nutrirnos de la resiliencia y la resistencia que las artes nos proporcionan.
