We are pleased to announce that the Egypt and Austria XIV conference will take place at the Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest from Wednesday, 25th September to Sunday, 29th September 2024. The conference will be organized by the Egypt and Austria Research Society and Eötvös Loránd University, Faculty of Humanities, Institute of Ancient and Classical Studies, Department of Egyptology, Budapest under the title:“Exploring the Orient”: Cultural bridges between Central Europe and the Near East
We are honoured to invite scholars with interest in research of the interactions between the states of the former Habsburg Monarchy, the Ottoman Empire, the Near and Middle East either to confirm their intention to attend the conference or to join the registered participants. The main topics will be: Egyptomania, history of Egyptology, Oriental studies, history of Ancient Near Eastern Studies, Orientalism, travellers, travelogues. history of collections, applied arts, architecture, music, philosophy, cultural heritage, historiography, cultural history, diplomatic history. We encourage speakers from various research areas to participate to explore these topics from a broad perspective.
The conference will be structured by papers of 20 minutes with 10 minutes discussion for each. The official language of the conference will be English. Please, kindly submit an abstract and register for the conference at [email protected] by completing the registration form attached below. The deadline of submission of abstracts is 31st March 2024. Deadline for registration as non-presenting participant: 6th September 2024.
Notification of acceptance of abstract: 31st May 2024.
