EGT Car Control Challenge
Sun Oct 23 2022 at 03:00 pm to 06:30 pmUTC+08:00
CARCO.com.au Raceway | Perth, WA
On the infield pit area at Wanneroo Raceway, the EGT Car Control Challenge will put your vehicle and your driving skill through its paces. You’ll be introduced to Motorkhana, a motorsport discipline where accuracy and control is key, not horsepower and speed.
Motorkhana is simple, safe, and low speed, making it the perfect starting point for those who have never participated in motorsport before. It is also a fun family event, with participants from the age of 12 being able to enter and up to four drivers being able to utilize the same vehicle.
You will be timed, but this is a Come and Try level event, not a competition. The timing is purely so you can track your improvement throughout the event.
$20 per vehicle (even if it is being used by multiple drivers) plus $25 for each Motorsport Australia Day Licence needed.
What can I expect at a Car Control Challenge Motorkhana?
The event is held on the infield pit area, which consists of 10,000sqm of bitumen. Before the event begins you’ll receive a course map which outlines the “tests” (the route through the markers you will need to take). Cars compete one at a time, always starting and finishing in designated “garages”. Markers are cones or plastic conduit poles. While this event isn’t a competition, in a competition, penalties are incurred if a driver hits a marker or takes the incorrect route through the course.
What do I need to participate?
A road registered car with working seatbelts and brakes, no leaking fluids, and generally mechanically sound with no loose items in the cabin. You’ll need to wear suitable, enclosed footwear and clothing that covers from wrist to ankle in non-flammable material (not synthetic). No helmet is required.
You will require a special licence, however this is very easy and costs $25. We will provide the relevant forms for a Motorsport Australia Day Licence for you to complete. There is no test or pre-requisites.
