About this Event
The award-winning Eel Pie Island Museum in central Twickenham celebrates all that has made this tiny island in the Thames so famous - from its heritage working boatyards nestling side by side with the island's creative community and high-tech companies to the significant part the erstwhile Eel Pie Island Hotel played in the 1960s British Blues explosion, helping superstars such as The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, David Bowie, Rod Stewart and many more kick start their musical careers.
With knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteers on hand to inform and entertain (many of whom live on the island itself), and just two minutes’ walk from Twickenham’s heritage riverside village, a visit to the Eel Pie Island Museum promises to be a truly memorable experience.
Included in your visit is a fully illustrated (30-page, A4 brochure) walking tour along Twickenham's historic Embankment promenade, overlooking Eel Pie Island.
The itinerary will involve splitting into two groups who will do the museum and walking tour and then swap over.
Price includes a tee/coffee and a free annual membership to the museum.
This event is London Historians members only for the moment. We may open it up later if there are places still available.
