After being inspired by plays at the historic Savannah Theatre, in 1902 Savannah native Edward Small ran away at age 11 to New York City. With pennies in his pocket he would seek fortune and fame in show business. When he died in 1977, he gave his fortune, reportedly worth $250 million, to charity. He went from vaudeville, to silent films to talkies and eventually to television. Did you know that he was the original producer of the TV show, Lassie? He produced or co-produced hundreds of movies and TV episodes and was friends and/or business partners with Howard Hughes, Shirley Temple, Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford, Jack Benny, George Burns and many more. Come here his relatives, Shellie Schmals and Roy Cranman share the "Rest of the Story" and see his 1959 film "Solomon & Sheba" all for just $7.25.
