About this Event

We are delighted to announce that our Edward Kennedy Annual Guest Lecture will take place this year on the 2 December in Tercentenary Hall in the Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute on Pearse Street.

The lecture titled "Keeping the health system going: Health financing, governance and resilience in Ukraine", will be delivered by Solomiya Kasyanchuk from WHO Ukraine.

Solomiya Kasyanchuk is a Health Financing Officer with the WHO Country Office in Ukraine, where she provides technical and strategic support to the Government of Ukraine on health financing, and health system reform.

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Solomiya has continued working in Ukraine, supporting the health system in responding and adapting to the pressures created by the war while maintaining longer-term reform objectives. Her work has provided experience of how health financing arrangements, strategic purchasing, national institutions, and policy processes can adapt during a prolonged crisis. More recently, her work has increasingly focused on how health financing and investment decisions can support Ukraine’s recovery, reconstruction, and long-term health system resilience.

Panel:

Damien McCallion, Chief Technology and Transformation Officer & Deputy CEO, HSE

Dr Paul Kavanagh, Consultant in Public Health Medicine at the HSE National Health Intelligence Unit

Dr Jon Cylus, Head of London Hub, European Observatory/WHO

Lecture and discussion will be followed by refreshments.
