Spend your Saturday with us as we spotlight a local LAUSD teacher and an in-classroom interdisciplinary STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine) project. We are excited to have Brent Rojo, computer science and engineering teacher and STEMM Magnet Lead, share his experience in using project-based learning strategies to bridge together engineering, medicine, and English literature. Each year, his students analyze the text and ethics of Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park in their English classes and design their own Jurassic Park in their engineering classes considering the biology of the animals in their “care”. Come curious and prepared to jumpstart a curriculum based on a book read in your class each year.
