About this Event
For 2024's Education Unplugged, Integrated AlumNI and the Integrated Education Fund will bring together Linda Ervine and David Adams to discuss Integrated Education and its role in the ongoing peacekeeping process in Northern Ireland for this in-person event.
This event will be held at Ulster University, Belfast, in room BD-02-009. For information on accessibility, please follow this link.
About our guests:
As a loyalist politician, David Adams helped deliver the loyalist ceasefire of 1994 and the Good Friday Agreement of 1998. Soon after 1998, he left politics to work in media as a columnist and commentator. He later spent close to 15 years working for the Dublin-based international humanitarian organisation GOAL. This took him to natural and manmade disasters across Africa and the Middle East. He retired in 2018.
Linda Ervine is the manager of the Turas Irish language project. The centre is now one of the largest providers of Irish language classes in Belfast, and the group have also established NaĆscoil na Seolta; the first Integrated pre-school that teaches through Irish. In 2021, Linda was honoured to receive an MBE for her work in East Belfast, and in 2023, she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Queens University. Before her present role as manager of the Turas project, she trained as a teacher and taught English in a secondary school in east Belfast.
We look forward to you joining us for this wonderful event!
