El Dorado + DLR Group present a research project by Summer Social Justice Scholars speculating on the future of education in Portland.
About this Event

El Dorado and DLR Group are excited the launch of our Summer Social Justice Scholar program, an exciting new internship initiative. This program is a testament to our commitment to fostering diversity and inclusivity within the field of architecture and urban planning. By intentionally engaging with designers from underrepresented backgrounds, we aim to support young talent through an academic summer scholar partnership, empowering students to further their professional and academic trajectories.

We are particularly proud to introduce Tyler White, a remarkable student at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, where he is pursuing dual master's degrees in Urban Planning and Design Studies. Alongside Tyler, Andrea Muchori will join us, combining their interests and research to explore the intricate relationship between education and city planning. Through multimedia methods, they will draw, map, and speculate about the past and future of public education in Portland. How does Public Education relate to City Planning and Spatial Justice?

At El Dorado, education is a cornerstone of our ethos. Our dedication is reflected in the work of David Dowell, who has taught the K-State Design Make Studio for 13 years, and Elisandra Garcia, who since 2018, has been teaching at various universities in Texas/Oregon and founded the Urban Violence Laboratory at the University of Oregon as part of the Design for Spatial Justice Fellowship.

We are delighted to have Tyler White as an integral part of our new efforts and are excited to invite you to join us for a special event celebrating this program.
