About this Event
The challenges we face today have often occurred in the past as well. How we dealt with them still shapes us, and will continue to echo tomorrow. Many of these stories can be seen through the eyes of early photographers in Edmonds Then and Now: 1876 to 2023. Arnold (Arnie) Lund, the author, will discuss how Edmonds Then and Now came to be. In the book, the latest AI tools were used to restore vintage photographs from over the last hundred years, and new photos were taken from the original perspectives. The result brought the past back to life, but also created a new snapshot of Edmonds during our time that will be used by historians in the future. Special thanks to our program partners My Edmonds News & Edmonds Bookshop!
Arnie is the Vice President of the Edmonds-South Snohomish County Historical Society and Executive Director of the Edmonds Historical Museum. He grew up in Richmond Beach and his father was a business owner here in Edmonds. Arnie and his wife recently moved to Edmonds after a career in companies like Bell Labs, Microsoft, and Amazon, and teaching at the University of Washington.
