About this Event
Theatre Diaspora, Oregon's only professional Asian American/Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AANHPI) theatre company, is proud to present a live staged reading of Edith Can Shoot Things and Hit Them, followed by a post-show talkback with playwright A. Rey Pamatmat!
Filipino-American siblings Edith and Kenny have been all but abandoned on a remote farm in remotest Middle America. Caring for his twelve-year-old sister and navigating high school becomes all the more challenging (and exhilirating) when Kenny's friendship with his classmate Benji turns into something more. But when Edith shoots something (and hits it), the adult world threatens the fragile found family the three have created.
Edith Can Shoot Things and Hit Them by A. Rey Pamatmat was the runner-up at Theatre Diaspora’s first People’s Choice campaign last September. This staged reading will feature the actors who championed the play, and a post-show talkback with the playwright himself.
This is a free event hosted by Literary Arts, but seating is limited. Book your ticket before they're gone!
If you would like to support Theatre Diaspora and the work that we do, you can make a donation when booking your free tickets or visit www.theatrediaspora.org/donate. Your contribution helps uplift AANHPI stories and voices through theatre and community engagement!
