Music has always been the heartbeat of Edison’s life, from studying classical piano at the Yorkshire College of Music, gaining a scholarship to The Guildhall School of Music and gaining inspiration from the guitar master George Benson which sparked a deep passion for the guitar.
With three captivating albums, regular touring and recording projects plus directing West End show ‘Unforgettable’, Edison is certainly making his mark as one of the top guitarists on the UK circuit. A career highlight has undoubtedly been performing an original piece in the Sky Arts ‘Guitar Star’ series where his idol George Benson quoted “I really enjoyed your playing. You’re one of the few cats who can make that thing sound so good.”
Edison is loving his incredible musical journey, and he looks forward to where his music will take him next. For now his next stop is Smokey Joe’s where he will be performing with the usual house band crew – the man of steel Alex Steele on piano, our favourite brummie Mike Green on bass plus the man with all the rhythm Mike Cypher on drums. On this occasion, the house band will also feature our very own Smokey Joe’s door lady (who also happens to play a bit of sax and sing), the highly energetic and vivacious Kim Cypher. Having recorded with Edison for his latest album ‘All I Need’, Kim and Edison will finally come together live for the first time at Smokey Joe’s ahead of Kim’s ‘LIVE and Smiling’ Vinyl Album Launch at Peggy’s Skylight in Nottingham on 27th September which also features Edison in the band.
You can expect a beautiful, vibrant night of Edison’s soulful guitar playing and singing mixed with a few tracks from Kim’s latest album. What’s not to love? We look forward to seeing you there and to giving Edison the warmest Cheltenham welcome.
