Edinburgh’s suburbs are bursting with stories; from writers and fur-traders to poppies and passion-flowers, via the Arctic and Oceania.



Hear about ordinary, and extraordinary, men and women as you wander through Inverleith and Canonmills to St Andrew’s Square and discover how our local history intertwined with countries around the world to shape our city and the lives of its residents.


Pre-booking required!

Start: Inverleith Park East Gate (opposite the Botanics John Hope Gateway)

Finish: St Andrew’s Square

Time: approx. 2.5 hours

Distance: approx. 2 miles/ 3km

Terrain: Easy to moderate – mostly level pavements and surfaced paths with some steeper slopes

PLEASE NOTE: Tour takes place outside and will go ahead come rain or shine. Please check the weather forecast and dress appropriately.

Comfortable footwear is also recommended. Maximum group size is 8 people, the tour is given in English and is recommended for ages 16+.
