About this Event

Professor Margaret Kingston and the Medical School's EDI Team welcome you to join this session focused on the duty of academic institutions to be more inclusive and Anti-racist, especially when there is a strong hierarchical structure, such as in medicine. It compliments activities to equip medical students as active bystanders in their learning environments.

Participants will have opportunities in a safe and confidential environment to discuss experiences of discrimination from sexism to racism to ableism, and to share their feelings about challenging this behaviour. Be assured you will not 'wreck yourself' in this session, but hopefully will gain some insight to the challenges facing our diverse staff and student population.

The Masterclass unpacks terms such as unconscious bias, cultural sensitivity, and microaggressions. It ends with some tips on when and how to safely challenge discrimination, particularly in clinical situations.

Choose a date you like to attend the Masterclass.

Please Note: Eventbrite may require you to create a password when you register for the event. Creating a password helps to prove ownership of the order if something needs to be edited. This definitely comes in handy if you accidentally make a typo in the email address! The good news is that you'll only be asked to create a password one time, and it's still never required to log in to register for an event.
