Ecstatic Dance Houston presents: Resolution Revolution with Andy Karavitis.
As we revolve around the sun together over and over, year after year, I can’t help but wonder, are we just going in circles? Or are things going to really change someday? Some fine day, far away, when I learn to change my own self, on the inside, then the world will really start to change. And maybe that day is today. Maybe I can rebel against the pattern of a plain day, ordained in gray on the calendar. Maybe I can make a resolution to have a revolution on the inside, in my heart and in my mind. To go out with the old and in with the new. So, Happy New year, everyone! Come and do something new, something you always knew how to do. Come and dance, and just be you.
Once again this week, I welcome you to join our creative ritual of self-expression and collaboration. This is a freestyle dance with no prerequisite skills or classes. The underlying values of this dance are peace, unity, respect, and love, (PURL) which are applicable toward ourselves and others. Your presence at the dance indicates your willingness to cooperate with these shared intentions. We will offer specific guidance on-site about the agreements and methods we use to play together.
When: Please feel free to arrive around 10:00 a.m., if you want to help clean and prepare the space. The warm-up music starts at 10:30. Opening circle is around 11. An average dance lasts about 90 minutes. Y'all are welcome to drop in or out at any time, but it is suggested to be there for the whole experience if you can.
What: Mostly music and dancing... Sometimes the tunes may be calling you to move slowly, and other times fast. We have couches for times when you prefer to rest & relax. After the music takes us through a complete storyboard of imagination, we will wind up in a closing circle.
How: This dance is a clean and sober environment, and suitable for children of all ages. Printed guidelines for the dance are provided at the donation station by the door. Comment box is available for written feedback about the experience.
Where: The Interchange, 1815 Cleburne Street, Suite T, in Houston. Behind Fixed Up Bike Shop. Enter through the gate on Hamilton St.
