What can we learn from the natural world, and how can we better involve tangible processes when making lens-based work?
About this Event

We're delighted to host an evening screening and talk from award-winning artist and sustainable photographic researcher Edd Carr.

How do we visually articulate stories from the ecological crisis in a way that captures the multiple dimensions of environmental damage, generational trauma, and community destabilisation? Edd Carr believes that animation is a powerful tool in creating works that express interior experiences, whilst accurately depicting the world and crisis unfolding around us.

In this talk, Edd will discuss his history of working with animation, and how he began to incorporate natural materials into his creative process as a way of relating localised experience. He will also offer advice and insight into the various techniques he has expanded and innovated - including animating with cyanotypes, anthotypes, soil, wood, leaves, and more.

Details and access:

Join us! This event is available on a pay-what-you-can basis. All contributions, large and small, are massively appreciated. Unfortunately we occupy a very old building and the screening space is down a steep set of stairs, which regrettably are not wheelchair accessible. If you have any other access queries please email [email protected].
