Join us for an evening of kirtan that is follows the traditional form of devotional call-and-response chanting, but with a modern twist.Kirtan wallah Michael Orlando leads the participatory chanting with his unique blend of Sanskrit verses set to classic melodies that you'll recognize from popular western music.
Lisa Leake is the responsive singer and Dave Curry accompanies Michael's keyboard playing with hand drumming.
The audience is invited to participate with whatever way they feel comfortable -- anywhere from seated meditation to free-form ecstatic dancing!
No prior experience is necessary. Just follow along, and through the wonders of repetition, you'll pick up the chants and be drawn into the rhythmic flow.
We'll start off with a short round of gentle body movement and breathing exercises, and then the music will begin and we all embark on the musical journey together.
Requested donation of $20 per person.
Doors open at 6:30, kirtan begins at 7:00.
