This Flying Turtle Dance is devoted to the light ~our own~ that matters most, and needed most in this season when the curtains of night are drawn so long before bedtime…
And, also, when the dark and destructive faults of humans remain unrelentingly powerful in the world.
We choose to celebrate, in dance, the lamps of light and warmth that all of us hold, in and out. And their sharing is our medicine, our power, and our offering.
Musical Expectations ~
Turtle Dance journeys are multi-genre odysseys. Not a small sample of genres; a wide assortment. In a Flying Turtle Dance, you won’t be taken to a whomp swamp and left there! Continuity is carefully woven, but you’ll range over musical times, spaces and places. In Turtle music, you’re often inhabiting and exploring a soundscape scene. And Turtle Musical Wizardy is the magic wand that dancers come to enjoy. Genres include ambient, lyrical/melodic, soul, world fusion, big EDM, classical, and playful interludes. Rock pops up too :))
