Since the beginning of ecstatic dance Oakland in 2008, Ecstatic Dance has been VESICA's non-negotiable pilgrimage to the dance floor. Initiator and Co-founder of Ecstatic Dance Berlin in 2010. VESICA is a dancer’s DJ drawing on a wide spread of genres, deeply steeped in West Coast Bass and organic world beats. Her sets are deep full spectrum transformational journeys that leave you happy to be alive! Her style has been described as Sultry funky.
Spiral into Contact Improv W/ SELYSA LOVE
When Selysa Love turned 18, she ran away to Peru and joined the circus. The twelve years since have been invested in healing and teaching through movement, including partner acrobatics, dance, contortion, and yoga. She can be found performing spellbinding contortion solos and dazzling acrobatic duos for Aries Moon Circus and private events across Northern California. While right side up, Selysa is the founder of Sacramento Reiki Center, where she specializes in supporting those grieving the loss of abusive relationships. She and her team have guided over a thousand people to peace.
Workshop:
Spiral into Contact Improv
Explore your body’s natural desire to dance in spirals. First, spiral with your original dance partner: the floor. Then, spiral into connection with another human. We will practice listening to the expression the dance wishes to take as a co-creation of all dancers involved. We will attune to kinesthetic consent, giving high quality touch, and the push-pull dynamic of partner dance. This workshop is designed for all levels of experience with contact improvisation, beginner and advanced alike.
