Ecstatic Dance Oxford is a welcoming, sober space for freeform, conscious dance in Oxford. Whether you’re completely new to mindful movement or have experience with 5Rhythms, you’ll find a supportive environment to express yourself, release tension, and reconnect with your body and community.

Join us for uplifting sound journeys that flow through tribal, electronic, melodic, and ambient music—creating space for both powerful expression and quiet moments of stillness. Move freely, dance solo or with others, and enjoy a safe, inclusive space where self-expression is celebrated without judgement.

Ecstatic Dance is about freedom of movement and deep presence. On the dance floor, we follow a few simple agreements:

• No talking on the dance floor
• No phones or photography
• No alcohol or substances
• Move however your body feels called

Dance solo, with others, or simply observe. There is no choreography—just music, movement, and the freedom to express yourself without judgement.

Ecstatic Dance Oxford welcomes people of all backgrounds, identities, and levels of dance experience. You are invited to move at your own pace in a supportive community space.

Many dancers with a 5Rhythms (five rhythms) background participate alongside complete beginners, creating a rich, diverse community of movement explorers.

Ecstatic Dance is part of a growing global movement of sober dance events, offering a powerful and accessible way to reconnect with your body, express emotion, and experience music in a deeper way.

Consent is essential to creating a safe dance space. Please be mindful of others and respect personal boundaries. Non-verbal connection is welcome, but all interaction should be mutual and respectful.

By honouring consent, we co-create a dance floor where everyone can feel free, safe, and supported.

Each Ecstatic Dance Oxford journey is guided by Traxsky, who curates a dynamic musical experience designed to support emotional release, creativity, and connection through rhythm and movement.

Expect a carefully crafted sound journey moving through a range of genres—from deep tribal rhythms and electronic beats to melodic and ambient soundscapes.

Some Ecstatic Dance Oxford events include optional guest-facilitated offerings to deepen the experience, such as:

• Cacao ceremonies
• Crystal bowl sound healing
• Embodiment practices

These offerings are optional and available through separate ticket options, with all proceeds going directly to the guest facilitators.

At select events, a small ceremonial serving of cacao may be offered. Cacao is generally safe for most people but may not be suitable if you:

• Have heart conditions or high blood pressure
• Take antidepressants such as MAOIs or SSRIs
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Are sensitive to caffeine or stimulants
