Welcome to Ecstatic Dance Kansas City! Ecstatic Dance is a beautiful freeform dance movement that started on the big island in Hawaii in the year 2000 and is now global. If you are new ~ please read through the universal guidelines below as they create the container for such a powerful experience.For our Sunday dance in September, we have DJ Clandestine back!! Clandestine is THE Ecstatic Dance KC resident DJ who has blessed us with his talents and energy since the start in 2016! With over 2 decades of experience specializing in a variety of psychedelic genres (dub, sacred bass, funky glitch hop, psytrance and downtempo) ~ each set he formulates is built as a journey from beginning to end, with the dancer's experience as the focal point. With impeccable track selection and a third eye to detail, he always takes us on quite the journey! CAN'T WAIT!
The Details:
Cost: $25 (Includes yoga, dance, sound healing, and all of the tea & coffee your heart desires.) Speciality food by Chelsea and massage by Jesse are paid to them separately.)

~ Please come showered and clean! (We like to smell nice for each other! This goes a long way when we are all dancing and sweating together! Also, please be mindful of wearing strong perfumes or colognes as some are very sensitive to these overpowering scents. Clean & natural is best!)

4. Using Substances (No drugs/alcohol. We get high on DANCE)
Brief History of Ecstatic Dance:
Ecstatic Dance (with it's roots in 5 rhythms) was birthed in Hawaii in the year 2000, and is now a world-wide movement found in almost every major city. It combines the freedom of a festival experience with the awareness of a conscious dance practice. The Ecstatic Dance guidelines (listed above) are Universal guidelines. Although each Ecstatic Dance around the globe is unique, these guidelines connect the web of all Ecstatic Dances around the world together as one.
Our Schedule Flow:
1) We open up with a movement practice, like yoga, to wake up & warm our bodies before dancing.
2) Our 2 hour Ecstatic Dance journey is fascilitated by a professional DJ. Although each DJ offers their own unique style, all Ecstatic Dance sets are crafted to flow like a WAVE, beginning very slowly (ambient) to warm up, and slowly increasing in speed and intensity as the set continues, eventully coming to a to a high point or PEAK before gradually coming back down again to a very soft meditative ambiance at the end.
3) We close with a Sound Healing. This is sometimes a musical performance, a song, a singing bowls sound bath, a guided meditation, or a breathwork session.
Ecstatic Dance is a sacred and safe space for you to be your unique authentic self in an open, loving, judgement-free container that celebrates you for being you. All are welcome!
Thank you with all my heart for your continued support. Ecstatic Dance KC has been going for 9 years! This community started out as a little seed that has been consistently tended to, watered and nourished by all of us. It is a collective co-creation and it continues to grow and thrive. I'm touched deeply by the beauty of this community.
I first discovered Ecstatic Dance in 2008 and I was hooked, dancing twice weekly in Northern California for 7 years straight before moving to Kansas City, and seeding it here to not only continue to receive the medicine I so needed, but to also offer that to others. I knew the power of Ecstatic Dance and how important it is. It has truly been one of the greatest gifts and honors of my life leading Ecstatic Dance in KC.
The gifts of this practice and community have been onging and profound. It is my absolute joy and pleasure to share this magic as it has changed my life in truly countless positive ways (and still does!) THANK YOU with all my heart for being a part of this.
This is my welcome home to you. Home to your global Ecstatic Dance family, and home to yourself. See you on the dance floor!
