A Night of Ecstatic Dance where we honor the body and its divine expression through movement.
I am thrilled to announce my next collaboration with the multi talented artists, Alexander Caruso and Hunter the Gatherer, both respected and adored musicians from the Asheville Ecstatic Dance community.
Alexander is a world traveling creative, author and musician who finds inspiration for his music through his travel, books, meditation and self exploration. Alexander has written and produced these experiences specifically for the ecstatic dance world. This series of connected compositions moves through a deeply elemental and emotional journey filled with big love and bliss. Powerful dynamics and dreamy bass frequencies are structured around organic sounds and instruments and themes that invoke a reverence for the earth and the sun and the state of being. Alexander's set is 1/2 pre-produced, 1/2 performed live with instruments from around the world.
Hunter the Gatherer is dedicated to the search for eclectic global sounds, compiling them together and creating a journey of prayer for the dancer. As a dancer and being versed in 5 Rhythms, Hunter intentionally curates journeys from that perspective. A way for the body to express all the different parts and for the emotions to be felt and alchemized. Hunter brings his love of different sounds and a wide range of different electronic textures and genres to create a colorful landscape to journey through.
Immersive Movement with Hunter (6:45-7:10) This portion is optional but participants are encouraged to arrive early to participate. We will be exploring awareness based somatic practices that will guide us into a deeper practice of authentic movement. When we listen to our body's intelligence, and move from that place we can experience a more immersive movement experience, providing a stable foundation for our dance practice.
Both Alexander and Hunter the Gatherer will be leading us on an hour journey through sound, the somatic body, self expression and prayer.
Doors open at 6:15 so we can begin preparing and adorning our bodies with glow paint to tap into our own inner luminescence. This is an opportunity for each person to add another layer of self expression to this container. We welcome the wild, the free, the unadulterated version of you. We will be providing body paint and feel free to bring anything else you'd like to use to adorn your body. We will also be partnering with Conscious Charlotte and they will be providing 1oz. ceremonial cacao for purchase.
Please bring an altar item for the collective intention setting. This can be a gift, a sentimental item or object that has significance for you. Each participant will take their item(s) home at the end of the night.
This is a sober event and we asked that everyone abstain from substance use prior to and during the experience.
DOORS WILL BE CLOSING PROMPTLY AT 7:15 FOR OPENING CIRCLE & MEDITATION.
This event will be held on Saturday 4/27/24 at Aerial Charlotte from 6:15-10pm.
Aerial Charlotte is located at 801 N. Tryon St. Charlotte NC 28206
This event is sliding scale $25 -$55 and we will cap this event at 100 people.
Doors will open at 6:15 (to paint, enjoy cacao and socialize) and the doors will close promptly at 7:15 for opening circle.
Each individual is encouraged to dress to express, bring an altar item for collective intention setting, an open heart and plenty of water.
