About this Event

Come and learn how to make eco-prints in the beautiful surroundings of Shrewsbury House.

Eco-printing is a process which draws the dyes naturally present in plants and flowers to create prints on paper. Leaves and flowers are bound between sheets of paper before being heated in water containing rusty objects to create your prints.

During this workshop you will work with a range of leaves and flowers to learn how to make eco-prints. After an introduction to the technique, its history, and a demonstration of the process your will create your own eco-prints. At the end of the two hour session you will leave with a range of prints. You’ll also receive a handout recapping the process and detailing a list of suppliers and online resources. Leaves and flowers will be provided. You are also free to bring your own leaves or flowers to create prints with however not all plants will work with this process. Aprons and gloves will also be provided.

This workshop will be led by Sally Gunnett, an artist who works with alternative photography and printmaking techniques. She has over fifteen years of teaching experience, having completed her PGCE in 2007 and then teaching art, design and media in mainstream education before becoming a head of department. She now works as a freelance teacher and artist and has taught workshops at institutions including Dimbola Museum & Gallery and OVADA and for the NHS.
