Six Triple Eight is a Netflix historical war drama directed by Tyler Perry. The film tells the true story of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, the only all-Black, all-female unit deployed to Europe during World War II. Tasked with sorting millions of backlogged letters and packages intended for U.S. soldiers, the battalion played a crucial role in boosting morale on the front lines. Despite facing racism, sexism, and wartime challenges, they completed their mission with remarkable speed and efficiency.
The film stars Kerry Washington as the battalion’s leader, alongside an ensemble cast including Oprah Winfrey, Ebony Obsidian, Milauna Jackson, and Susan Sarandon. Six Triple Eight sheds light on this unsung group of heroes, highlighting their perseverance, service, and legacy.
