APOLLO’S FIRE has a series of Countryside Concerts coming up - Tuesday, June 16 at Avon Lake United Church of Christ; the next evening, Wednesday, June 17th at The Bath Church in the Akron area; and then two concerts each day on Saturday, June 20th and Sunday, June 21st at the beautiful Holden Arboretum in Kirtland, Ohio in Lake County. Those Sunday concerts are at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
We have a very special benefit for Music Cleveland! and Celtic Cleveland! as well as listeners of Quinn’s Irish Radio show (WHK 1420 am, and live streamed at www.whkradio.com on Sundays from 10 a.m. til noon) - we are offering a 20% discount on any category of tickets for the Sunday evening performance at Holden Arboretum.
That’s a members-only 20% discount on any category of seats for the 7 p.m. performance on Sunday, June 21st at Holden Arboretum.
Discount only applies to the Sunday evening concert at Holden Arboretum and is not retroactive.
This particular concert is titled Echoes of Ireland.
In this new program, Echoes of Ireland, eight musicians follow the trail of Turlough O’Carolan – the beloved, blind harper who traveled the roads of 18th-century Ireland, playing at weddings and funerals. From heartbreaking laments and ballads to joyous dances, the artists on fiddles, cello, Celtic harp, lute, and vocals bring to life the legends of Ireland. A delight for the young and old!

A little about Apollo’s Fire:
As you may know, Apollo’s Fire is named for the classical god of music and the Sun - APOLLO. The group was founded in 1992 by the award-winning young harpsichordist and conductor Jeannette Sorrell.
Sorrell envisioned an ensemble dedicated to the baroque ideal that music should evoke the various Affekts or passions in the listeners. Apollo’s Fire is a collection of creative artists who share Sorrell’s passion for drama and rhetoric.
GRAMMY®-winning ensemble Apollo’s Fire are known for their folk programs exploring history and legends. The expert troupe plays on period instruments, but with the freedom of folk players.
