Celebrating 250 Years: Echoes of Home
On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, the SOLI Chamber Ensemble invites the San Antonio community to a landmark musical event: Echoes of Home. This performance serves as a centerpiece of the ensemble’s 32nd season and acts as an official representative of Texas’s 20th Congressional District for the America 250 nationwide semiquincentennial celebration.
Hosted at the Ruth Taylor Recital Hall at Trinity University, the evening begins at 7:00 PM with an insightful pre-concert talk led by Dr. Ethan Wickman, followed by the main performance at 7:30 PM.
The program, titled Echoes of Home, is a curated "chorus of contemporary voices." SOLI—featuring Jacquelyn Matava (mezzo-soprano), Ertan Torgul (violin), Zizai Ning (cello), Stephanie Key (clarinet), and Carolyn True (piano)—will perform works by ten of America’s most influential contemporary composers. The selection includes evocative pieces by Aaron Copland, John Williams, Jessie Montgomery, and Reena Esmail, alongside a special contribution from Robert Xavier Rodríguez. Each work explores the multifaceted meaning of "home," reflecting on our nation’s complex history and the evolving American identity.
This concert is more than a performance; it is a musical dialogue intended to foster reflection and unity as the United States approaches its 250th anniversary. It highlights the power of contemporary chamber music to interpret the American experience through diverse cultural lenses.
Tickets and reservations are available now. We encourage you to RSVP today to ensure your attendance at this historic event.
