The program, performed by Dr. Alicia Valoti and pianist Sherry Cheng, features works by Francesca Caccini, Imogen Holst, Rebecca Clarke, and Alicia Valoti herself. Collaborators:
Dr. Alicia Valoti is an internationally acclaimed violist and Associate Professor of Viola at Central Michigan University. She began her musical journey as a pianist at Indiana University Bloomington before transitioning to viola studies. Dr. Valoti earned a performance degree from McGill University in Montréal and furthered her studies in Italy, obtaining a Master's degree in viola performance with highest honors from the Conservatory of Florence "Luigi Cherubini." Her extensive performance career includes appearances in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Gomhouria Theater in Cairo. As an educator, she has conducted masterclasses worldwide and is recognized for her contributions to both contemporary and baroque music.
Sherry Cheng is a Houston-based pianist, freelance writer, and arts critic. She holds a Master of Music degree in piano performance from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Oklahoma. Since moving to Houston in 1999, Ms. Cheng has been actively involved in the city's arts community. She performs frequently in chamber music concerts, collaborating with musicians from the Houston Symphony and other ensembles. Her contributions extend to arts writing, with publications in Arts and Culture Texas magazine and Classical Review online.
