Indiana Author Kathleen Leemon Swartz will be joining us on August 16th after our monthly meeting as part of the party's monthly speaker series. Her book "A Hoosier to Remember" covers Indiana Governor Oliver H.P.T. Morton. A staunch ally of President Lincoln, her book explores the lesser-known life and times of Governor Morton during the most contentious period in American history—the U.S. Civil War. ABOUT THE AUTHOR - Kathleen Leemon Swartz is a Hoosier who invested more than fifty years of her life in education, as a student, a teacher, and a school administrator. Her first encounter with the life of Oliver P. Morton was when teaching Indiana history to fourth graders. Her curiosity about his life, his character, and the extensive political impact he made on his state and nation has led at long last to compilation of this book.
Now retired, Swartz spends her time enjoying life, nature, family, and friends, and wondering how she ever had the time to work. She has published three books for children; catalphabet, Every Family Has One, and It's Fall in Indiana.
