MORE DETAILS
The hike will start at the Central block of the main gate. The trail leads us into thick dry upland forest up and down scenic valleys. Hiking further into the forest the vegetation changes to highland montane forest which leads to a valley of nettles before making a sharp ascent to a more flattened ridge. After the ridge, the trail shall lead us into another valley with crystal clear stream running southwards. It is at this point we shall make another sharp ascent leading you to the top of the ridge to form the last stretch of our trek. The trail then leads us to the starting point downhill through 3 scenic ridges along the fence.
The forest forms part of the catchment for L.Naivasha and Elementaita with several ground springs and is also a source of Ndabibi River and other small springs.
Eburu is also home to the Mountain Bongo an endangered, beatiful and majestic antelope found only in kenya with a population of less than 100 only remaining.
More than 40 species of birds are found in eburu forest including Robin chat, Turaco ross, the fly catcher, starling, bee eater, bishop yellow, eagle martial etc
Mammals include the aardvark, baboons, buffaloes, gazelles, colobus monkey's, leopard, dikdiks, giraffes just to name a few. Gear up for a nature experience marched by none.
