Join us for a free tour of the award-winning EBMUD Main Wastewater Treatment Plant! This 2hr walking tour gives members of the public a first-hand look at what it takes to remove human waste and other pollutants from millions of gallons of wastewater each day. You will do a lot of walking and learn about the physical and biological processes we use to clean and disinfect wastewater as well as the ways you can help keep our waterways clean.

Safety is EBMUD’s top priority. The treatment plant is an active, fully operational plant with heavy truck traffic. This tour involves walking up and down narrow stairways, walking over uneven ground, and potentially being exposed to strong odors and birds. Sturdy, closed toed shoes are required.
