Eat Local Week-Rooftop Garden Tour and Planting Clinic at Selby Gardens

Operation ECO Vets is a veteran organization offering Healing, Motivating and socialization experiences "Helping Veterans Grow" .

Navy veteran Camille Van Sant and Army veteran Dan Zimmerman maintain the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens' rooftop edible garden that supports the restaurant below, The Green Orchid. Veterans are benefited by the learning and work involved in producing veggies, herbs and flowers.

Camille will be teaching a class on seeding and transplanting covering the timing and needs for successful starters plants. More varieties are available if you grow from seed. And you save money too.

BONUS: After the tour, you can dine at The Green Orchid restaurant without having to pay the Selby Gardens entrance fee!

Operation ECO Vets also offers a Veterans and Friends Garden Club meeting every 1st Sunday of the month in a welcoming sensory garden for veterans and the community to learn about growing in our area and share camaraderie in gardening.

This is one of many events taking place during 2024 Eat Local Week.
