Eat, Drink, Art! A benefit for Austin Pets Alive!

Lydia Street Gallery kicks off its new series, celebrating internationally renowned photographer, Professor Emeritus, Lawrence McFarland, with a special evening, Eat, Drink, Art! on June 18th, 2023, from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Guests can sip and nosh while enjoying a private viewing of McFarland’s photography, meet the artist and hear his perspective on his life and work. The gallery will also raffle one of McFarland’s photographs at the event. The cost is $35.00 per person and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Austin Pets Alive.

Hailing from Dodge City, KS, McFarland has documented the American West for six decades. From majestic to the desolate, McFarland attempts to reconcile his vision of the landscape from the western films of his boyhood, Native American sacred lands, and his own dreams, leaving the viewer breathless.

Recipient of three National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships and a Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, his work is collected by numerous museums and institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art. His companion for much of his work," Kodak", who often "photobombed" his panoramas has passed on.

McFarland’s exhibit, From Dodge City to Shiprock, will run through June 18, 2023, at Lydia Street Gallery.
