About this Event
This is a two-day workshop on how to make a cutting board!
Sessions are on Tuesdays 6:00-7:00pm:
- 4/15
- 4/22
- 4/29
The Easy End Grain Cutting Board class is 3 sessions beginning with an understanding of wood surfaces, material choices, and the importance of design and planning ahead.
During the 1st 60-90 minute session, after a short discussion and project plan, you’ll choose from pre-milled materials to create a unique 11”x11” square or 9”x13” rectangle end grain cutting board. Final dimensions may vary. Once designed, we’ll complete the first glue up.
At the outset of the second session, you’ll remove the clamps and then use a drum sander and table saw to prepare your piece for the second glue up. 60-90 minutes.
During the final 90 minute session, we’ll utilize the planer, table saw, router table, drum and orbital sanders to complete your project. We’ll discuss the importance of using food grade finishing materials and apply them.
Due to finishing material drying time, there will be a final step to complete at home to buff a beautiful end grain cutting board that will be enjoyed for many years to come.
Attendees should bring safety glasses and hearing protection if they have their own. We can provide some to those that don’t have their own.
Instructor: Greg Corson
Greg’s lifelong passion for woodworking was recharged during COVID. Over 60 pieces later, Greg’s focus includes a unique charcuterie/cheese/gathering board, fun everyday cutting boards and challenging end grain designs. “I truly enjoy the artistic nature of choosing the materials and creating a design that takes advantage of the uniqueness of the wood’s color and grain pattern.”
Although new to instructing, Greg looks forward to sharing what he has learned while guiding others to create something for themselves or a special gift.
