This October Eastside Spin Jam is featuring a fan workshop from Gina Renata!!Teaching: Foundations in Fan Spinning 2
This workshop will build on concepts from Fan Foundations 1, including open and closed grip, thumb-lead and pinky-lead weaves, and placing those weaves around the body.
These concepts will build to 2-beat and 3-beat weave patterns, and eventually to fountain variations. Skill level is beginner to intermediate spinners.
If this is your first day spinning fans, you can still walk away with some solid concepts!
About Gina Renata:
Gina is a physical therapist by day and fire spinner by night. She performed regularly as an LED spinner in the Seattle night life scene from 2013 to 2017, when she began teaching movement as a PT more than performing. She has also been a performer with Hoopbotic Poitronic, the Sakura-Con flow arts group, from 2018 to the present. Gina is passionate about developing preventive sports medicine culture for obscure sports including flow arts. She is excited to see the spread of fan spinning, and thrilled to be able to teach and share skills to grow the Fan Army!

**What should I expect?
Friendly faces and welcoming spaces. Open jams are an unstructured time to come together and practice flow arts while building connections and community. Many love teaching. All props, skill levels and movement modalities are encouraged and welcome!
We plan to host workshops on a monthly basis. Let the event host know if you're interested in teaching!
**Don't have a prop of your own? We've always got extra to share.

Donations keep us spinning! We believe in creating spaces for art, creativity, and connection that are financially accessible to all. Your donation helps make the magic happen~
Suggested donation for open jams is $5.
