Eastern Market After Dark (EMAD) is produced by Design Core Detroit as a signature event of the festival and is a district wide open-studio involving several galleries, retailers, brand activations, and music. Introduced as part of the festival programming in 2012, EMAD has grown from an initial attendance level of 4,000 to attracting more than 33,000 attendees in 2023 while featuring the work of emerging to established designers. Sponsored activations occur under Shed 2 all through the entire market area.
