Eastbourne Silent Book Club - September: BONUS LitFest Sunday Session
About this Event
Welcome to the Eastbourne chapter of Silent Book Club. We host free monthly events where readers come together as a community to read in companionable silence, in the peaceful surroundings of the local bookshop. Everyone is welcome, and our events are free.
There are no set readings at Silent Book Club: you just bring whatever book you would like to read. All genre readers are welcome, as is any format of book including e-readers. Just don't forget your headphones if you'll be bringing an audiobook!
Spaces are limited to thirty readers. For these bonus sessions in collaboration with Eastbounre LitFest, fifteen tickets are bookable here by SBC Eastbourne, and fifteen via Litfest - so please reserve your spot as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. If our session is fully booked, we can add you to a waitlist.
To reserve your spot, please book a free ticket via Eventbrite. If you book a ticket but can no longer attend, please let us know as soon as possible so your spot can be allocated to somebody else. If you have any trouble booking a ticket, please contact us via email [email protected] or on Instagram @EastbourneSBC so that we can assist you.
Please note: if you want to chat, need to check your phone or take a call during the designated silent hour, please step outside to avoid disturbing readers. The shop is accessible, but does not have an accessible toilet, it is reached by a large flight of stairs. We are unable to provide refreshments.

Arrival, greetings, sharing what we are reading.
Info: We sit in a circle and take it in turns to introduce ourselves and talk about what we are currently reading. Don't worry if you are shy - you can say as little or as much as you're comfortable with. We then take a photo of all of our books and e-readers together before we begin to read.

Silent reading hour.
Info: Phones are turned off and we read in silence for an hour.
🕑: 05:30 PM - 06:00 PM
Socialising, book browsing and buying.
Info: We once again go around in a circle and briefly share our reading experience. Then we have time to chat and socialise, or you can slip away quietly if you'd prefer.
