About this Event
East Zodiac collaborates with Unison Chamber Music Collective to put on a benefit concert — “Remembrance”. It is free admission with pay what you can at the door on November 17th, 7pm, at Northside Community Church (929 Barton Dr. Ann Arbor, MI 48105). The concert will bring together the musical talents of Allyson Cohen (violin), Samuel Hsieh (clarinet), and Ayunia Saputro (piano), and will be followed by a short reception. Join us for an evening of heart warming music.
- East Zodiac is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting Asian composers and ensuring meaningful representation of Asian descent within the U.S. classical music scene. Each year, they commission an Asian composer to create a new work inspired by the Chinese Zodiac. This piece is workshopped collaboratively with the composer, rehearsed with musicians, and premiered at our annual concert, which also features a full program of works by AAPI composers.
- Unison Chamber Music Collective is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to breaking barriers in access to classical music. The organization brings world-class, engagement-based chamber music performances to underserved communities, including shelters, prisons, and addiction recovery centers. Through trauma-informed and culturally sensitive approaches, Unison musicians create concerts that foster connection, dignity, and joy for audiences who are often excluded from traditional performance spaces.
